After a lot of hard work with Friends of the Earth we are pleased that our LiDAR Tree Canopy Map of England has been launched.
You can read about the key findings and the relationship between canopy cover and deprevation on the Friends of the Earth website and view it in their web application. You can also read about it in The Guardian newspaper.
This map is based entirely on open LiDAR data from the Environment Agency / DEFRA which they make available under the Open Government Licence.
We have used our own algorithm to identify tree canopies. There are many different ways to represent this information, from flat maps to 3D views and shaded relief.
If you are interested in bespoke versions of this map please email info@terrasulis.org
